Nominations Now Open for 2022 Public Interest Registry (PIR) Board of Directors

The Public Interest Registry (PIR) is a nonprofit organization responsible for managing the .org domain extension. PIR is governed by a Board of Directors, which is responsible for overseeing the organization's policies, operations, and strategic direction.

Nominations are now open for the 2022 PIR Board of Directors. The Board consists of nine members, three of whom are appointed by the Internet Society (ISOC), and six of whom are elected by the .org community.

To be eligible for election to the PIR Board of Directors, candidates must be individuals who are passionate about the internet and its ability to serve the public interest. They must also have expertise in one or more of the following areas: technology, public policy, law, finance, marketing, or nonprofit management.

Nominations can be submitted by anyone, including self-nominations. To nominate a candidate, interested parties must complete a nomination form, which can be found on the PIR website. The form requires basic information about the nominee, including their name, contact information, and a brief bio.

In addition to the nomination form, candidates are also required to submit a statement of candidacy. This statement should outline the candidate's qualifications, experience, and vision for the future of PIR. The statement should be no more than 500 words and should be submitted along with the nomination form.

The nomination period for the 2022 PIR Board of Directors runs from April 1, 2023, to May 31, 2023. During this time, interested parties can submit nominations and statements of candidacy via the PIR website.

Once the nomination period has ended, the Nominating Committee will review all submissions and select a slate of candidates for the election. The election will take place in the fall of 2023, and all members of the .org community will be eligible to vote.

The PIR Board of Directors plays a crucial role in ensuring that the .org domain is managed in the best interests of the public. Board members are responsible for setting policies that protect the integrity of the .org extension and ensure that it remains a trusted space for nonprofits and other mission-driven organizations.

The Board also plays an important role in guiding PIR's strategic direction. This includes overseeing the development of new products and services that support the needs of the .org community and ensuring that PIR remains financially sustainable.

If you are passionate about the internet and its ability to serve the public interest, and if you have expertise in one or more of the areas outlined above, consider submitting a nomination for the 2022 PIR Board of Directors. This is an opportunity to help shape the future of one of the most important nonprofit organizations in the world, and to make a real difference in the lives of millions of people who rely on the .org domain to connect with others, share their ideas, and make a positive impact on the world.
