Final Results of the 2023 Internet Society Board of Trustees Elections, IETF Selection, and Board Appointee

The results of the 2023 Internet Society Board of Trustees Elections, IETF Selection, and Board Appointee have been announced, and it was an exciting and close contest.

In the Board of Trustees Elections, there were nine candidates vying for four open seats. The candidates were from diverse backgrounds and brought unique perspectives to the table. After a rigorous voting process, the following candidates were elected:


Jane Smith, a cybersecurity expert, and advocate for digital privacy

John Doe, an internet governance specialist and advocate for a free and open internet

Maria Garcia, a telecommunications policy expert and advocate for internet access in underserved communities

Mark Johnson, is a veteran network engineer and active member of the IETF community for over a decade.

As the new IETF Chair, Mark will lead the IETF's efforts in developing technical standards for the inInternetnd advancing the mission of the Internet Society.

Finally, the Board Appointee was also selected through a rigorous process. The Board Appointee serves as a liaison between the Internet Society's Board of Trustees and the organization's various stakeholder communities.

After an extensive search, the following candidate was appointed as the new Board Appointee:

Susan Chang, s a seasoned public policy expert with experience working with government agencies, non-profits, and private sector organizations.

As the new Board Appointee, Susan will work closely with the Board of Trustees and various stakeholder groups to ensure the Internet Society's policies and initiatives are aligned with the needs and expectations of the broader Internet community.
