Press Statement

Upper Hand, Inc. Acquires Leading Sports Video Analysis Technology from Double Blue Sports Analytics, Inc.

INDIANAPOLIS (March 13, 2018) – Upper Hand, Inc., the leader in cloud-based sports management software and business services, today announces the acquisition of sports video analysis technology from Double Blue Sports, a company that develops advanced and affordable video analysis and sharing applications for athletes, teams, coaches and sport organizations.

As part of the acquisition, Upper Hand has acquired Double Blue Sports’ industry-leading app-based video analysis platforms, CoachCast and the Save Review System (SRS). This allows Upper Hand to become the world’s first sports and fitness management platform to integrate video analysis and video coaching.

Double Blue Sports’ video analysis products are the most advanced and easy-to-use video analysis technologies ever developed for mobile devices. Incorporating unique methods designed to extract meaningful information and edit videos, Double Blue Sports has saved hundreds of thousands of hours for coaches and athletes, allowing more time to perfect athlete performance.

“Double Blue Sports pushes the boundaries of what is technologically possible while also fulfilling an immediate need within our target audience,” said Kevin MacCauley, CEO and founder of Upper Hand. “Video analysis is the future and delivers a new pinnacle of innovation in athlete development. By integrating CoachCast and SRS within our business management platform, sports professionals will see a dramatic improvement in coaching capabilities while driving positive business results.”

As Double Blue Sports’ flagship product, CoachCast is a multi-sport video analysis tool designed to make the coach’s use of video analysis fast, simple and productive. SRS is the world’s first video and analytic platform for hockey goalies. It has reinvented the video capture and distribution process for goaltenders and is currently used by National Hockey League (NHL) athletes. Both platforms are trusted by sport professionals worldwide and securely stores videos for thousands of athletes across hundreds of organizations.

Because of the acquisition, Double Blue Sports customers will continue to have access to the company’s original video analysis products while gaining access to all features available through the Upper Hand software. Double Blue Sports’ video platforms will be integrated within the Upper Hand platform and are now available for customers.

“Together, Upper Hand and Double Blue Sports create a broader offering of services to coaches, trainers and athletes in a way that resolves immediate problems with current legacy technology,” said Dan Kerluke, Founder of Double Blue Sports. “Featuring robust functionality and easy-to-use interfaces, our high-quality video analysis platforms are designed to solve the unmet video management need for sport professionals.”

Founded in 2011, Upper Hand has revolutionized the way coaches, trainers and sports management professionals conduct business with its powerful, cloud-based mobile platform. Having secured more than $2.4 million in funding since inception, Upper Hand’s software offers sports organizations a suite of online tools to escape the administrative vortex and focus more on the training and development of its clients.
